It’s so hard to believe that we’re already in the last weeks of Summer! Though we’re always sorry to see summertime wrapping up, what makes it a little easier is that there’s plenty happening this fall at Columbus Square.

Parks on Tap is back for a second time this year; Theater Exile is hosting what promises to be a very special visit from Little Amal; and we’re closing out September with a fun movie night for the whole family! Details below…

Parks on Tap – Wednesday 9/6/23 to Sunday 9/10/23
For the second time in 2023, Parks on Tap will be visiting Columbus Square for the beer garden event benefitting the Fairmount Park Conservancy – which in turn benefits the Square. The funds raised go directly to support the beauty of Philadelphia’s public parks and the many activities that engage our communities.

Weekdays starting at 4:00PM. Weekends starting at Noon.
Free entrance (ID required) at the corner of 13th and Reed.

Parks on Tap Yoga – Sunday 9/10 at Noon
Center yourself with Parks on Tap as they host Sunday Morning Yoga on September 10 at Noon.  Meet on the Reed Street Lawn. The $5 participation fee goes directly to benefit Friends of Columbus Square.

Little Amal – Wednesday 9/13 at 1:30PM
Theater Exile is proud to present Little Amal as she visits Philadelphia. Little Amal is a 12-foot-tall puppet representing a Syrian refugee girl. Little Amal walks through communities around the world to bring attention to the struggles of refugee and migrant communities. Columbus Square is proud to be the kickoff point for Little Amal’s walk through South Philadelphia – one of four very special visits in Philadelphia as she tours the United States.

Since July 2021, Amal has travelled over 9,000km to 97 towns and cities in 15 countries and been welcomed by more than a million people on the street, including hundreds of artists and civil society and faith leaders, as well as by tens of millions online. Her journeys celebrate, inspire hope, and draw attention to the huge numbers of children fleeing war, violence and persecution, each with their own story. Her urgent message to the world is “Don’t forget about us”.
